Work With Us

Head of Nonfiction Programming

New York, NY

Wanted: A person with loads of broadcast/production leadership experience, who knows that on-demand podcasting is NOT the same medium as linear radio. Someone who has deep experience creating and commissioning new programs; someone who likes taking risks and experimenting; someone with bold ideas (along with the ability to recognize other people’s bold ideas) and the skills to build them into programs; someone who's not constrained by what's worked in the past or what everyone else is doing. We’re looking for a nimble thinker who can recognize good programming concepts beyond her, his, or their own comfort zone, but who loves the challenge of creating something new and can turn those concepts into excellent shows with broad reach.

We want a compassionate manager who inspires and brings out the best in producers and talent, and someone who recognizes that diversity in all its forms helps create a better workplace and better programming that will reach more people than just those currently listening to podcasts.

And — this is very important — we want a good writer, someone who can spot the problems with a script, or knock out one from scratch, with a seasoned eye and a finely tuned ear.

If this describes you, apply now. You’ll help steer the future of on-demand audio.

This senior-level, full-time position reports directly to Andy Bowers, Panoply’s co-founder and CCO and is based in Panoply’s Brooklyn, NYC office.

About the Company

With more than a decade of award-winning podcasts and deep knowledge of the medium, the Slate Group launched Panoply, the premium podcast network of top publishers and thinkers. Panoply is a fast-paced, innovative podcasting company with two major focuses—(1) producing and monetizing compelling audio content like the #1 hits Revisionist History from Malcolm Gladwell and The Message from GE Podcast Theater and (2) Megaphone, the premier technology platform for spoken word audio and a complete end-to-end solution for the distribution and monetization needs of enterprise audio publishers.

Working at Panoply means flexible office hours, casual dress, full benefits, competitive salaries, and vibrant offices in downtown Brooklyn & Washington D.C. We have a friendly work environment, but coolness under pressure and comfort with short time horizons is a must.
